According to NOAA, (National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration) The Atlantic hurricane season is officially from 1 June to 30 November. The names for 2009 are: Bill, Claudette, Danny, Erika, Fred, Grace, Henri, Ida, Joaquin, Kate, Larry, Mindy, Nicholas, Odette, Peter, Rose, Sam, Teresa,Victor, Wanda.
Be prepared!!
1. Get appliance thermometers, make sure your refrigerator is (at or below 40 degrees farenheit) and freezer (at or below zero degrees farenheit)
2. Freeze containers of water for ice and to help keep food cold in freezer, cooler and refrigerator in case the power goes out.
3. Freeze refrigerated items, (leftovers, milk and fresh meat and poultry)
4. Group food together in the freezer. This helps the food stay cold longer.
5. Have coolers on hand to keep refrigerated food cold if the power will be out more than 4 hours.
6. Get Ice in advance, freeze gel packs ahead of time for cooler use.
7. Just in case find out where dry ice and block ice can be purchased.
8. Store food on shelves out of the way in case of flooding
9. Make sure you have plenty of bottled water just in case of flooding you will need safe water.
