At 9am on Saturday, June 13, 2009, residents, county personnel, local attorney, Sue Tarley and county administrator, Sandford B. Warner gathered at the pavilion in Ironbound Square Park to join Neighborhood Connections in celebrating their 15th year of service and to officially designate June 13th as “Neighborhood Day”. Additionally, 5 Community Association volunteers were identified as honorary recipients of the Robert L. Moore Community Patriot Award. Those recipients were Joan Bender (Colonial Heritage), Jere Long (Wexford Hills), David Lehnertz (Stonehouse), and Rick Myer (The Mews). Of those honorees the actual recipient of the Robert L. Moore Community Patriot Award was Phil Smead (Powatan Secondary).
